One Month in New York :)

So, our first month in New York has flown by! We've been so busy this last week and haven't had a chance to update. So here's a bit of what we've been up to.

I work full-time as receptionist at Murray Hill Pet Hospital and I really enjoy it! It's a small neighborhood practice and everyone there is so nice. My schedule is also really great because I work 4 days a week, with three days off...so I have days off during the week to pursue creative projects. It feels really good to have stability in my life up here, but still some flexibility as well.

Speaking of creative projects, I'm excited to be working on an evening of staged readings. The plays are written by students and performed/directed by New York actors/directors. So I am eager to meet other actors and support these young playwrights. Also, I have an audition for a film on Wednesday - my first official audition in NY! I'm setting small goals for myself and learning about different opportunities every day. :)

As for Kenny, he has been keeping busy also! He joined a Cinema Force meetup group. The group is comprised of New Yorkers who have an interest in movies with an emphasis on action films. Last weekend they went to the Astoria Museum of the Moving Image to see an Indonesian action film and today they had an archery workshop (in the spirit of The Hunger Games). I think it's awesome he found a group of people who share his interest in cinema and it sounds like they always have something fun planned!

Kenny and I have been enjoying the pretty weather by taking lots of walks around the neighborhood. On my days off, I love to take walks in the park. So convenient just to walk across the street too! Also, it's so nice to just sit on a park bench and people watch, read or enjoy a cup of coffee. I am so grateful to live so close to an amazing view. We really love our neighborhood.

Also, we like to try different delis and restaurants in our neighborhood. We found this great spot - Bistro 33 - that has 2 for $10 apps and drinks on Tuesdays nights! We already seem to have a few favorite spots up here and many more that we want to try.

We have a lot of fun things coming up in the next week including a happy hour river cruise (less than $20 for two tickets thanks to living social) and I am attending a taping of a talk show. Of course, we want to see shows too. Tomorrow, we are going to try the lottery/rush tickets for a musical.

There is always so much to do and see up here - especially with the weather getting warmer. Although I'm bummed I'm missing out on family get togethers back in Va (my brother is preparing for college and my nieces are getting so big!), we are really happy here and look forward to trying more new things.
