Carrie, Cupcakes and More!

Last Sunday, Kenny and I had the entire day to spend together in the city! We were super excited to see our first show since moving here...Carrie: The Musical at the Lucille Lortel Theatre Off-Broadway. The musical is a revival...the original came out in the 80's (after the movie) and was a HUGE flop. Back then, it closed after only 5 shows! Although this show has gotten mixed reviews, we thoroughly enjoyed the performance!

The theatre offers $20 tickets if you are under 30...so Kenny and I got a great deal on some really fantastic seats. Without realizing it, Kenny took this picture of me and across the aisle is actor & comedian Mario Cantone. Kenny didn't know who he was and was just taking a picture of me on my phone. I recognized Mr. Cantone and noticed he seemed to enjoy the show as well!

After the show, we walked to the famous Magnolia Bakery to get cupcakes! There is always a wait, the line moved quick and it was definitely worth it.

We read that the thing to try is the banana pudding. Of course, we got the red velvet cupcakes as well. The cupcakes were good, but the banana pudding was absolutely amazing and maybe the best dessert I have ever tasted!!!!

Enjoying our dessert in Christopher Park.

So many of my friends from CNU live in New York...probably at least twenty plus theatre majors! (I  could post another whole entry on how happy I am to re-connect with these special people and have them in my life again!) Many have lived here for 2+ years and have lots of great advice to offer. I miss my college friends and appreciate their love for acting, theatre and life in general! Another CNU alum, Jordan, just moved up recently as well and we've been communicating back and forth throughout our moving process. We brought him a cupcake from Magnolia Bakery while he gave us a tour of his new home.....

Park Slope, Brooklyn.

He treated us to some beers at Bierkraft. Excellent place for all types of beer!

Overall, we had a fantastic day! Sundays seem to be the best day for Kenny and I to do things. I work Saturdays and we both work during the week. Weeknights we tend to stay in Astoria, but plan to go into the city for more events as the warmer weather prevails. I can say that we both really love living here!

We are really grateful to have this opportunity and experience.
